Dorothy Johnson Pounders

Dorothy Johnson Pounders, managing partner of Pounders Coleman, PLLC practices in the areas of family law, litigation, arbitration, and mediation. She was appointed by the late governor, Ned McWherter to serve as a Commissioner from Tennessee to the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Law. In that role, she served on the drafting committee of the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act (UCCJEA), which has been adopted in all fifty (50) states. She is a past president of the Memphis Bar Association and the Memphis Bar Foundation. In 2003 she received the Jerome Turner lawyer’s lawyer award. She is a member of the American Bar Association, Lawyers Journal Club, and was a charter member of the Leo Bearman, Sr., American Inns of Court. Dorothy Pounders has been listed in Best Lawyers® in America 1985-to date. She was the first woman in the state to be selected for the distinction of Fellowship in the American College of Trial Lawyers. She is also a Fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Biography: Leslie Coleman is a senior partner of Pounders Coleman. She is born and raised in Memphis. After attending college out of state, Leslie Coleman returned to Memphis to attend law school in Memphis, graduating in 1991. With an undergraduate degree in Psychology and a law degree, Leslie Coleman has a unique perspective which has contributed to her success. She has extensive experience litigating cases at the trial court level as well as the appellate level. She frequently lectures on all areas of divorce law.

Leslie served as a law clerk to the Honorable D. J. Alissandratos of the Thirtieth Judicial District at Memphis. She has been a member of the Memphis Bar Association since 1991, serving as a member of the Board of Directors as well as Secretary/Treasurer, Vice-President and President of the Young Lawyers’ Division and Chair of the Public Service Committee. She is a member of the Association of Women Attorneys, having served as recording secretary. She also has served as an Associate and Barrister member in the American Inn of Court.

She is the 1998 recipient of the Midsouth Women in Business Award, the 2004 recipient of “One of the Fifty Women Who Make A Difference” award presented by Women’s Magazine and the 2004 recipient of the Sam A. Myar, Jr. Memorial Award presented by the Memphis Bar Association for outstanding service to the legal profession and the community, and a 2005 recipient of the “Top 40 Under 40” Award presented by the Memphis Business Journal. She is a Fellow of the Memphis Bar Foundation and a member of the prestigious Lawyer’s Journal club. She has been named a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, an organization of leading practitioners in the field of family law who are chosen for their high level of knowledge, skill, and integrity. And in 2016 she was admitted into the American College of Trial Lawyers, that is composed of the best of the trial bar in the United States and Canada, Fellowship into the college is extended by invitation only.

In addition to her law practice, she has served on the Board of the Commission on Missing and Exploited Children. She has served on the Board of Trustees of St. Agnes Academy-St. Dominic, Inc., as well as serving as Chairperson of the Board of Trustees for three (3) years.

Biography: Jason R. Ridenour is an Associate with Pounders Coleman, PLLC focused on representing clients in family law related matters, including divorce, alimony, child custody, child support and orders of protection. Jason has practiced with Pounders Coleman, PLLC since February 2010.

Jason has represented clients involving complex and substantial marital estates, contentious child custody disputes, child abuse related litigation, Hague Convention litigation concerning international child abduction, and contempt litigation.

Prior to focusing his practice in 2010 on advising and representing clients in family law related matters, Jason had a broad scope of practice, including complex construction contracting disputes, business formation and dissolution, contract drafting, conservatorship and guardianship litigation, probate litigation and estate planning.

As the Regional General Counsel, he was the managing attorney over the legal division, which included seven attorneys that represented the State of Tennessee and presented cases in Circuit, Chancery and Juvenile Courts involving issues of child welfare, primarily focused on child abuse and neglect, custody, visitation and termination of parental rights.
